Dr. Steven Hill is a terrestrial ecologist who has over 18 years of experience working on natural heritage projects across Ontario. Combining a mix of expertise in ecology, statistics, and spatial analysis, Steve works with a range of technical experts and clients to ensure that natural heritage planning and decision making is grounded in science and that private and public natural heritage planning result in enhancement of the natural environment. He is a Co-Director at D&A and provides leadership to the Ecology team 

through client liaison, project management, study design, natural heritage inventory, data analysis, policy interpretation and report writing.

While completing his graduate research on forest ecology and invasive species he recognized the importance of integrating science into environmental policy, decision making, and sustainable natural heritage planning. His academic training is complemented with over ten years of professional consultancy with natural heritage planning teams across southern Ontario for several municipalities. 

Key client project responsibilities at D&A include working on a wide range of planning and infrastructure projects that require impact assessment, mitigation planning, and ecological restoration planning. At broader spatial scales, this includes ecological inventory, impact assessments, and natural area protection and restoration planning prepared for watersheds. Project experience at finer spatial scales includes impact assessments prepared for transportation plans, master environmental servicing plans, plans of subdivision, and other studies that require minor zoning changes and/or planning amendments.
